Wall Mount Hanging Bracket

Installing Wall-Mounted Hanging Brackets
Remember that drywall (gypsum wallboard) is not strong enough to hold a screw, and plaster is too hard and brittle to accept screw threads without crumbling. You need to either screw into the framing stud behind the drywall or use one of the provided E-Z wall anchors (aluminum 'screw' things).
First, drill a tiny pilot hole (1/8 inch drill bit suggested) to determine if you are at a wall stud (this is a 2x4 piece of lumber behind the sheetrock), or use a sonic stud-sensing tool for this. If you find the wall stud, screw the bracket directly to the stud. In this case, do NOT use E-Z anchors, as you will damage your wall if the E-Z anchor hits the stud. If there is only wallboard, follow these instructions to use the wall anchor:

Placing E-Z Anchors in Wall:
1. Mark the anchor locations (through the holes in the bracket) on the surface of the wall. Use a 7/32 or 1/4 inch drill bit to make a pilot hole for the E-Z anchors. By following this procedure you avoid damaging the wallboard and insure a more secure anchor.

2. Press in lightly and twist the anchor into the pilot hole in the wallboard. Stop turning when the flange is flush with the surface.

3. Place the hanging bracket so that the holes are over the anchors, and insert screws through the bracket holes, threading the screw into the anchor. Use a screwdriver to drive the screw into the anchor and tighten the screw until it feels secure. Don't overtighten the screw or you may strip the threads in the anchor.

4. Mark the second bracket location: This works best with two people! After installing the first hanging bracket, remove the rubber grommets from the bracket stem, and hang your art piece by one hole on the bracket stem. Place second bracket through the other top hole in the art piece. Push the piece as close to the wall as you can, and hold it up so that the top of the piece is level (using a level). Still holding the art piece and second bracket, mark the outside and top edges of the second bracket. These marks will allow you to place the second bracket.

What do the little pieces of rubber do?
The small pieces of clear or natural-tint tubing included in your Hang Kit will be very helpful in positioning your art on the Hang Kit, and will prevent the piece from sliding off the bracket.
